1Heathcote Post Office
Following the 1852 gold discovery at McIvor Creek, this post office opened on 1 July 1853 as McIvor Creek, then was renamed Heathcote six months later on 1 January 1854. It sits at 69 High Street among the gold-rush town's streetscape of old shopfronts, hotels and churches.
2Heathcote Court House and Council Chambers
Built in 1863 to a design by Melbourne architect John Flannagan, this building is unusual for combining a courthouse with the shire council chambers under one roof. Few such 1860s buildings survive in Victoria. The former courtroom now serves as a local historical museum.
3Pink Cliffs Geological Reserve
These vivid pink and pastel clay cliffs are the eroded scar of 1870s-90s hydraulic sluicing, where miners blasted the slopes with high-pressure water jets to wash out gold. Operations ended in 1890 over environmental concerns. Now on the Victorian Heritage Register (H1352), it survives as a rare relic of that vanished mining method.
